The actual Thai Embassy in Hanoi is around the corner. Note that if you are applying for a marriage visa for Thailand or a tourist visa for Thailand. Note the requirements of these visas. Also note that it takes 2 working days to complete the application process. Finally there is also a Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City if you are closer to them.

Non-Immigrant Visa “OA” (Retirement Visa)

If you are going to apply for a retirement visa for Thailand at the Embassy in Vietnam then you must have the following:
  • You must be 50 years old;
  • That you are not a prohibited person (banned for entering Thailand – usually a visa overstay);
  • You have no criminal record in Thailand;
  • No prohibited disease;
  • Have the nationality of the country where you are applying; (Usually you have to be Vietnamese here)

You can email them and check if they will allow you to apply for a retirement visa in Vietnam if you are not Vietnamese.

  • You must have at least 18 months on your passport
  • Also 3 copies of your application form
  • 3 passport sized photos
  • Completed application form
  • 3 passport photos
  • Copy of your Thai bank book shows 800,000 THB in your account.
  • Copy of letter from the bank confirming your deposit;

Non-Immigrant Visa “O” (Marriage Visa)

If you are going to apply for the marriage visa then you will need the following documents

  • You must be married to a Thai national;
  • That you are not a prohibited person (banned for entering Thailand – usually a visa overstay);
  • You have no criminal record in Thailand;

You can email them and check if they will allow you to apply for a retirement visa in Vietnam if you are not Vietnamese.

  • You must have at least 6 months on your passport
  • Copies of your Thai wifes Tabian Baan (House Papers)
  • 1 passport sized photos
  • Completed application form
  • Copy of marriage certificates (both versions)
  • Copy of your Thai bank book shows 800,000 THB in your account.
  • Letter from your Thai wife in English or Thai

Birth Registration for Thai birth

To register the birth of a child for Thai nationality while in Vietnam you will need the following:

  • Completed application form;
  • Record of the mother testimony;
  • The original Thai passport and copy;
  • Also the valid Thai ID card;
  • Original or copy of Tadian Baan;
  • 1 X Colour photo of father, mother and child (must be able to see faces);
  • Marriage certificate if married;
  • Birth certificate

If the couple are married the child gets the fathers surname. If they are unmarried they get the mothers surname. Email them with any questions. These are the documents which are required at the date of writing.
