Thai Visa Application

** Please make an appointment online in advance **

To apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, there are a few steps to follow:

First, it’s important to make an online appointment at https://rteankara.setmore.com/ before visiting the embassy. Note that the embassy only accepts applications from those with an appointment.

Before the appointment, it’s necessary to prepare all the required documents for the specific visa category being applied for. For any further inquiries, applicants can send an email to consular.ank@mfa.go.th.

Once the visa is ready, the embassy will inform the applicant via email. At this point, the applicant can come to the embassy to collect their passport or authorize a courier to do so on their behalf with an authorization letter.

 

Thai Tourist Visa

To apply for a visa, there are certain document requirements that must be met. These include a passport or travel document with a validity of no less than 6 months, along with a copy of the passport and a completed application form. Additionally, two recent passport-sized photographs taken within the last 6 months must be provided. Evidence of travel to Thailand, such as a plane ticket, is required, and for multiple entry visas, a roundtrip ticket is needed for at least the first entry to Thailand.

Accommodation reservations covering the entire stay period in Thailand must also be provided, with accommodation reservations covering at least the duration of the first trip to Thailand for multiple entry visas. Evidence of financial flow during the last 6 months, with adequate finance of at least 800 USD, is necessary, and for families wishing to visit Thailand, evidence of financial flow during the last 6 months, with adequate finance of at least 1,600 USD is required.

For multiple entry tourist visas, evidence of financial flow during the last 6 months, with a minimum balance of 5,700 USD, and an employment letter are necessary. A copy of residence permit in Turkey, if any, must also be included. Additional documents may be requested when deemed necessary. There are two types of visas available, a single entry visa and a multiple entry visa. The visa processing time for general nationalities is 2-3 working days. Finally, the applicant must endorse every page of the submitted documents.

Non Immigrant “O” Visa

To apply for a visa to Thailand, the following documents are required:

  • A passport or travel document with a validity of no less than 6 months
  • One copy of the passport
  • One completed application form
  • Two recent passport-sized (4 x 6 cm) photographs taken within the last 6 months
  • Evidence of travel to Thailand, such as a plane ticket
  • Evidence of financial flow (bank statement) over the past 6 months, with adequate finance of at least 800 USD
  • A company or school’s guarantee letter addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, stating that the applicant is a spouse or family member of those working or studying in Thailand
  • A copy of passport pages of those working or studying in Thailand, including a personal data page and those with Thai visa
  • Likewise a copy of Thai Work Permit or Student I.D. of the spouse/family in Thailand
  • Likewise a copy of marriage certificate (for spouse) or birth certificate (for parents/children)
  • Additional documents may be requested when deemed necessary

The applicant must endorse every page of the submitted documents. Holders of a single-entry visa can stay for a maximum of 90 days, and the visa is valid for 3 months, with a visa fee of 80 USD. The visa processing time takes 2-3 working days to 1 month. Extension of stay may be granted for a period of one year from the date of the first entry to Thailand, and the Embassy officers reserve the right to request additional documents.

 

 

 

 Temporary Thai passport (validity 1 year)

When Thai nationals lose or expire their passports while abroad and have an urgent need to travel to a third country, they may apply for a temporary passport valid for one year. However, this temporary passport has limitations as it does not have a machine-readable bar code, rendering it unable to be used for visa applications or temporary entry into other countries. As a result, the petitioner must contact the embassy of the country they wish to travel to and inquire whether a temporary passport can be used or not.

To apply for a temporary passport due to a lost passport. The applicant must provide a notice, a copy of their original passport, ID card or house registration, three photos of the same size used in the passport, two sets of temporary passport application forms, two sets of investigation records, and pay a fee of 10 USD in cash.

If the passport has expired, the applicant must provide a copy of their original passport, ID card or house registration, three passport-sized photographs, two sets of temporary passport application forms, two sets of investigation records, and pay a fee of 10 USD in cash.

Thai ID card Renewal

(replacing the old card)

When requesting a national ID card, certain documents must be presented. These include an ID card request form, the original expired card in case of expiration, or a government-issued document with a photo attached, like a driver’s license, educational qualification, or passport, in case of loss or destruction. If the card is damaged, the original damaged card and a government-issued document with a photo attached must be presented.

In case of a change of first name or surname, proof of name-surname change and the original card must be presented. In case of a change of address, the house registration with the original ID card must be shown. A fee of $4 cash is also required.

Birth Registration

In case parents have registered their marriage

When parents have registered their marriage, certain documents are required for child registration, as listed below:

  1. Likewise a color photograph of the child in either size 1 x 1.5 or 1 x 2 inches.
  2. An original birth certificate issued by Turkish authorities or an original certificate from the hospital where the child was born. Likewise with an English translation. Additionally the translation must be certified by a Notary Public. The office of the province in which the Notary Public is located. This and the Turkish Foreign Ministry. For certificates issued by authorities in Azerbaijan, Georgia, North Macedonia, or Turkmenistan, certification by the embassy or Consulate General of that country is required.
  3. Likewise a set of the father and mother’s identity card copies. This which must be translated into English and certified by a translation company if they do not contain information in Thai or English. Additionally no certification from a Notary Public is necessary.
  4. Additionally copies of both parents’ passports.
  5. Copies of the father and mother’s house registration. This which must be translated into English and certified by a translation company. Likewise this if they do not contain information in Thai or English. No certification from a Notary Public is necessary.
  6. Additionally a copy of the marriage certificate. In the case of marriage registration under foreign law. Translations must be provided by a translation company with a stamp to certify the correct translation. No certification from a Notary Public is necessary.

Likewise it is important to note that two copies of the above documents. This should be prepared if applying for a passport as well. Also, if the documents are in Thai and English, no translation is required.

Parents are not registered for marriage

To apply for a Turkish passport for a child, several documents are required. These include:

  1. One color photograph of the child, sized 1 x 1.5 or 1 x 2 inches.
  2. Likewise an original certificate from the hospital where the child was born or an original birth certificate issued by the Turkish authorities. This must include an English translation and must be certified by (1) a Notary Public, (2) the office of the province where the Notary Public is located, and (3) the Turkish Foreign Ministry. If the certificate is from a hospital or authorities in Azerbaijan, Georgia, North Macedonia, or Turkmenistan. Then it must be certified by the embassy or the Consulate General of that country.
  3. A copy of the identity cards of both the child’s father and mother. If the ID card does not contain information in Thai or English, it must be translated into English and stamped to certify the correct translation by a translation company (but not through a Notary Public).
  4. One copy of both parents’ passports.

 

Additional Documents
  1. A copy of the father and mother’s house registration. If the house registration does not contain information in Thai or English, it must be translated into English and stamped to certify the correct translation by a translation company (but not through a Notary Public).
  2. If the child wants to use their father’s surname. Then a consent form must be signed by the father in front of an officer at the embassy. For the word record form, the passport applicant must also sign in front of the officer.
  3. In case the father of the child cannot be contacted, a copy of the child custody certificate (Por.Kor.14) is required.

It’s important to note that if applying for a passport as well. Then two copies of the above documents should be prepared. Additionally, in the case of documents already in Thai and English, there is no need for translation.

 

 

Marriage Registration

(Marriage between Thai people)

To apply for marriage registration between Thai people, both parties must submit a petition in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara. This is because the spouse must sign in front of the registrar and 2 witnesses. It is important to note that the applicant for marriage registration must be of legal age. However, if a minor is applying, a parental consent letter must be presented to the registrar. The required documents for the petitioner on both sides are as follows:

  1. Request for marriage registration
  2. Original ID card with 1 copy
  3. A copy of house registration
  4. Original passport with 1 photocopy
  5. Certificate of celibacy issued by the Amphur Office within 6 months. In the event of previous marriage and divorce. Then a certificate must be presented stating that the petitioner has never married after the divorce.
  6. In the case of a previous marriage. The petitioner must bring the original divorce certificate or divorce family status certificate with a copy.
  7. If a Thai woman has been divorced for less than 310 days, a medical certificate stating that she is not pregnant must be presented.

It should take approximately 2 business days to process the application, and there is no fee. After marriage, spouses have the right to choose the surname of either party as agreed or continue to use their original surnames. Women can use the title “Mrs.” or “Mrs.” when married under Thai law.

(Marriage between Thai person and Turkish person)

When applying for marriage registration between a Thai person and a Turkish person. Likewise both parties must submit a petition in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara. The spouse must sign in front of the registrar and two witnesses, and documents for both Thai nationals and Turkish citizens must be completed.

Thai person Documents

For Thai nationals, documents required include a request for marriage registration, original ID card with a copy, a copy of house registration. This as well as the original passport with a photocopy, a certificate of celibacy issued by the Khet/Amphur Office within 6 months. Also a divorce certificate or divorce family status certificate with a copy if previously married. If a Thai woman has been divorced for less than 310 days, she must also provide a medical certificate stating that she is not pregnant.

Turkish person documents

For Turkish citizens, required documents include an original passport with a photocopy. Also the original ID card with a copy with English translation certified by a Notary Public, official of the province in which the Notary Public is located, and Turkish Foreign Ministry. Likewise a copy of house registration with English translation certified by a Notary Public, official of the province in which the Notary Public is located, and Turkish Foreign Ministry. Lastly a certificate of celibacy issued by a local authority within the last 6 months. With an English translation certified by a Notary Public, official of the province in which the Notary Public is located, and Turkish Foreign Ministry.

It is important to note that in some cases. The embassy may request additional documents. The processing time for marriage registration is approximately two business days with no fee. After marriage, spouses have the right to choose the surname of either party. This or can continue to use their original surname by informing the registrar. Additionally, for women married under Thai law, “Mrs.” or “Mrs.” can be used as a title.

 

 

Single Status Certificate

Thai people who are unable to travel to their country to obtain a single certificate for marriage registration at the embassy can make a Power of Attorney for relatives or close people to act on their behalf. To do so, they should check the regulations for requesting a power of attorney. Typically, a single certificate can be obtained at the district office or district office in Thailand. This is the Thai celibacy certificate.

Power of Attorney

To authenticate the signature of the person signing the power of attorney, there are some requirements that must be fulfilled. First, applicants must come and sign in person. Then, there are some supporting evidence that should be presented, including a legalization petition, a Power of Attorney Application, an ID card with 1 copy, a copy of house registration with 1 copy, and a passport with 1 copy.

In addition, the attorney must be an adult not less than 20 years of age and provide a copy of their ID card and house registration. Two witnesses with identification cards are also required. Moreover, a $15 fee must be paid in cash. It is important to note that the petitioner must contact the Royal Thai Embassy to submit the petition in person between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. every working day, and check the embassy’s holidays for convenience.
