Thai Tourist Visa from the Emirates 

 

If you are applying for a visa for Thailand being a Thai tourist visa. Then as a Emiratie there are certain rules which need to be followed. The requires are listed below and are the basic requirements. Other foreign nationals may not need certain requirements as set out below.

  • Original passport with at least 6 months validity;
  • Also a photocopy of your UAE residence visa;
  • The original guarantee or a No Objection Certificate to travelling;
  • Your flight tickets showing a round trip;
  • A copy of your Thai hotel confirmation letter;
  • Covid insurance up to USD 50,000 and a Covid vaccination certificate of applicable; (as at Feb 2022)
  • Bank statement – 3 months for a single Thai tourist visa;

The Covis requirement might end as time moves on but that is the current requirement. If you are going to apply for a multiple entry tourist visa then you will need to show at least 6 months bank statements. This showing a minimum of AED 25,000 per person or AED 45,000 for a family of four.

Thai Passport

 

Should you be live in Dubai or the Emirates as a Thai national and your passport is going to expire. Then this is how you will need to obtain a new passport from the United Arab Emirates. Always check your passport and see that you have at least 6 months validity on the passport. This allows you to ensure that you can get your new passport on time. This so that you can transfer your visa from the old passport to the new one. You can contact the Thai Consulate in Dubai for assistance. What will you need for this?

  • Your current Thai passport;
  • Your valid Thai ID card;

If it is a passport is for a Thai child you will need the following documents as well:

  1. The child’s passport;
  2. Also their valid Thai ID card or the birth certificate;
  3. The Father’s ID card or passport;
  4. Mother’s identity card or passport;

This passport application process takes a while so ensure that you apply for the passport early. If you have however lost your Thai passport then you will need to report this to the local police. They will give you a case number and you have to give this to the Consulate when you apply for a new passport. They are not going to assist you without this police report.

Applying for a Passport – (E-PASSPORT)

Thai nationals residing or working in the UAE are eligible to apply for a new passport at the Consulate General in Dubai for various reasons. Firstly, if their passport is nearing expiration or has less than six months validity. Secondly, if their passport is damaged, tampered with, or missing important parts. Thirdly, in the case of a lost passport. Additionally, if there is a change of name or new surname.

To apply for a passport, certain documents are required, including a legalization petition form, a Thai passport application form, the original passport, a United Arab Emirates Residence Visa or Emirates ID Card, a Thai ID card (that has not expired), a copy of Thai house registration, and a copy of the birth certificate (in case the place of birth information does not match the original passport). In the case of a lost passport, a lost passport report must be provided, notarized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dubai/Sharjah. Other documents, such as a copy of a marriage certificate, divorce certificate, or name change certificate, may also be required.

By Appointment

To apply for a new passport, an appointment must be made in advance through the Consulate General’s website. Applications are accepted on business days (Monday – Friday) from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, except on public holidays. The passport fee is AED 130 for a passport valid for 5 years and AED 250 for a passport valid for 10 years.

After submitting the necessary documents, the Consulate General typically takes about 3-4 weeks to process the new passport. The staff will call the applicant to notify them when the passport is ready. The new passport can be picked up on working days (Monday – Friday) between 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM by bringing the original passport and receipt.

Thai ID card

Likewise Thai nationals residing or working in the United Arab Emirates are eligible to apply for a new ID card at the Consulate General in Dubai for various reasons. Firstly, if their old card has expired. Secondly, if the original card is lost or destroyed. Thirdly, if the original card is essentially damaged. Additionally, if there is a change of name, surname, or address.

To apply for an ID card, certain documents are required, including a Thai ID card request form, the old Thai ID card, a Thai passport, a United Arab Emirates Residence Visa or Emirates ID Card, a copy of Thai house registration, and a copy of name change certificate and last name change certificate (if any).

Applications for ID cards are accepted on working days (Monday – Friday) from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, except on public holidays. In the case of an expired card, no fee is required. However, in the event of a lost or altered card, a card replacement fee of AED 15 will apply.

Petitioners can receive a new ID card on the same day at the Consulate General. However, an appointment must be made in advance through the Consulate General’s website, and the area is reserved for those who reserve the queue online before receiving the service.

Emergency Travel Document

If a Thai national has lost their passport or if it has expired and they need to travel back to Thailand, certain documents are required to obtain an emergency travel document.

In case of a lost passport, the applicant must provide a legalization petition form, a request form for emergency travel documents, a complaint form, a lost passport report, a copy of the lost Thai passport or a copy of a Thai ID card or a copy of a Thai house registration, a copy of the proof of obtaining a UAE visa, and a copy of the air ticket.

On the other hand, if the passport has expired, the applicant must provide a legalization petition form, a request form for emergency travel documents, a complaint form, an expired Thai passport, a copy of Thai ID card or copy of Thai house registration, a copy of the proof of obtaining a UAE visa, and a copy of the air ticket (which should be booked at least 3 – 4 days in advance before applying for an emergency travel document).

Marriage Registration

Thai nationals residing or working in the United Arab Emirates who wish to register a marriage with a Thai or foreigner can do so under Thai law at the Consulate General in Dubai under the following conditions. Firstly, either spouse is a person of Thai nationality. Secondly, both spouses have proof of residence in the United Arab Emirates. Thirdly, marriage registration requires the consent of both parties. Finally, neither spouse should be married to another person while registering the marriage.

Documents Needed

To register a marriage under Thai law at the Consulate General in Dubai. The following documents are required. Firstly, a legalization petition form and a marriage registration application form must be completed. Spouses must provide their passports and United Arab Emirates Residence Visas or Emirates IDs. In the case of Thai nationals, a spouse’s Thai ID card and a copy of their Thai house registration are also required.

For foreigners, a Certificate of Singleness is required, which must be obtained from the embassy or consulate general of their home country and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dubai/Sharjah. If the divorce was previously registered, a divorce certificate must be presented according to Thai law. In the case of a divorce registration that is not under Thai law, the petitioner must provide a notarized divorce certificate in English, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dubai/Sharjah.

Additional Information

Furthermore, if a woman has previously registered a Thai marriage and the marriage was terminated due to divorce, husband’s death, or a court order, she may register a new marriage only after the expiration of the previous marriage for at least 310 days, unless she gave birth during that time, married her former spouse, has a medical certificate stating that she is not pregnant, or has a court order for marriage.

Finally, two witnesses are required for the marriage registration. For Thai witnesses, a Thai ID card, Thai passport, and proof of residence in the United Arab Emirates are needed. For foreign witnesses, a passport and proof of residence in the United Arab Emirates are required. Birth Certificate

 

Thai nationals residing or working in the United Arab Emirates who have given birth to a child in the country can report the birth and request a Thai birth certificate for the child at the Consulate General in Dubai. To do so, they must prepare the following documents:

  1. Legalization petition form
  2. Request form for birth registration
  3. Original and copy of the birth certificate issued by the hospital or the UAE authority.
  4. The father’s and mother’s Thai ID cards
  5. The father’s and mother’s Thai house registration certificate
  6. The father’s and mother’s passports
  7. United Arab Emirates Residence Visa / Emirates ID Card of the father and mother
  8. A copy of the marriage certificate (if applicable)
  9. If the parents are unmarried, an acknowledgement of paternity or a court order establishing paternity must be provided.
  10. Two witnesses with Thai ID cards and proof of residence in the United Arab Emirates

Documents Needed

 

To apply for a birth certificate at the Consulate General in Dubai, Thai nationals residing or working in the United Arab Emirates and who have given birth to a child in the UAE need to prepare several documents. These include a legalization petition form, a Thai birth certificate application form, the original birth certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Health (in English) which is certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Dubai/Sharjah, and photographs of three birth certificates taken against a white background.

Additionally, the parents’ passports, United Arab Emirates Residence Visas / Emirates ID cards for both parents, Thai identity cards of the father and mother (in the case of Thai nationals), and a copy of the Thai house registration of the father and mother (in the case of Thai nationals) are required.

If the father or mother has changed their name, the applicant needs to submit a copy of the name change certificate and the last name change certificate. Furthermore, the applicant must present the original marriage certificate (Kor. 2) and the marriage certificate (Kor. 3).

It is important to note that Thai Islamic marriages are invalid under Thai law because they were not made in the presence of the registrar. In the case where the marriage registration is not under Thai law, parents must submit documents to the registrar at the district office where the petitioner has a domicile in order to request to record the registration of family status (Kor. 22) to be able to register the birth of a child and obtain a Thai birth certificate at the Consulate General in Dubai.
