Tourist Visa TR

Ordinary passport holders who wish to enter the Kingdom for various purposes are required to obtain a Tourist visa. The following purposes qualify for a Tourist visa:

  1. Tourism
  2. Short visits to family living in Thailand
  3. Medical treatment with registered hospitals
  4. Participation in MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Convention & Exhibitions) events supported by TCEB

To apply for a Tourist visa, the following documents are required (Embassy/Consulate reserves the right to request additional documents as necessary):

  • Passport or travel document with a validity of at least 6 months.
  • Recent photograph of the applicant taken within the past six months.
  • Evidence of travel from Thailand, such as a fully paid air ticket.
  • Proof of adequate finances, with a minimum of 10,000 CNY per person.
  • Proof of accommodation in Thailand, such as accommodation bookings or invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand.

The validity of a Tourist visa is either 3 months or 6 months, depending on the circumstances. Upon arrival in Thailand, travelers with this type of visa are allowed to stay for a period not exceeding 60 days.

If individuals wish to extend their stay or change their visa type, they must apply for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok. The extension of stay or change of visa type is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

It is advisable for visa applicants to submit their applications at least 15 working days before their intended travel date to Thailand. This allows sufficient processing time.

Thai Passport

When applying for a passport at the Thai Consulate, certain evidence and supporting documents are required. Firstly, it is necessary to submit one set of passport application forms, which can be received at the Consulate General or downloaded from their website. Secondly, the original passport must be provided along with a photocopy of the page containing the amendments, the visa page, and the page with the last entry into China stamp. Additionally, one copy of the national ID card, house registration, name change certificate (if applicable), and marriage/divorce certificate (if any) should be included.

It is important to note that the completion of the passport application process takes approximately 2-3 weeks from the date of fee payment. The Consulate General’s staff will contact the applicant to inform them when the passport has been delivered to the Consulate General, and the applicant must personally come to pick it up.

Note that several important points should be considered. Firstly passports are valid for 5 years and cannot be edited or recorded. Finally the petitioner must submit the application in person at the Consulate General to ensure accurate recording of biological data in the computer system. Lastly if there are discrepancies between the information in the original passport and the house registration, such as surname or date of birth, correction of the information in the house registration must be done at a district office in Thailand before applying for a new passport. Furthermore, fees paid for the passport application are non-refundable under any circumstances. Lastly, it is important to be aware that the regulations are subject to minor changes without prior notice.

 

 

Thai Passport (Lost)

Marriage Certificate (Thai)

When applying for a marriage certificate at the Consulate General, certain procedures and documents are required. Firstly, both parties who plan to marry must submit a petition in person. This is because the spouses need to sign in front of the registrar and two witnesses. The applicant for marriage registration must be sui juris, meaning they must be of legal age. In the case of minors, a parental consent letter must be presented to the Registrar.

Documents Needed

The following documents need to be completed and submitted:

  1. Request for Legalization (available at the Royal Thai Consulate-General or downloadable from the request form).
  2. Investigation Records (available at the Consulate-General or downloadable from the application form).
  3. Marriage registration application (available at the Consulate-General or downloadable from the application form).
  4. Original ID card, yellow card with photo, or a certificate of a person with a photo or a stub stub requesting an ID card. This should be accompanied by a seal of approval from the district or an identification document issued by the Department of Provincial Administration. Additionally, a copy of the front and back should be provided.
  5. Original Thai house registration or a certified copy with a stamp from the district, along with one copy. The certified copy from the district must be issued within 3 months from the submission date.
  6. Original passport with a copy of the photo page, passport renewal page, and surname change page. In the case of having a visa, please bring one copy of the visa page.
  7. If previously married, the original divorce certificate or divorced family status registration with one copy is required (in the case of a Thai woman).
  8. One-inch color photograph.

It is important to note that according to the new Surname Act, when married, women and men have the option to choose their surnames in various ways as mentioned above. No fees are required for this process.

When applying for a marriage registration, it is necessary for the individuals planning to marry to personally submit a petition at the Consulate General. This is because the spouse must sign the documents in front of the registrar and two witnesses. The required documents for both Thai and Chinese nationals are specified as follows:

For Thai Nationals:
  1. Legalization request (available at the Consulate-General or downloadable from the application form).
  2. Marriage registration application (available at the Consulate-General or downloadable from the application form).
  3. Original Thai ID card, yellow card with photo, or a certificate of a person with a photo or a stub requesting an ID card. This should be accompanied by a seal of approval from the district or an identification document issued by the Department of Provincial Administration. Additionally, a copy of the front and back should be provided.
  4. Original Thai house registration or a certified copy with a stamp from the district, along with one copy. The certified copy from the district must be issued within 3 months from the submission date.
  5. Original passport along with a copy of the photo page, passport renewal page, and surname change page. If a visa is present, please bring one copy of the visa page.
  6. If previously married and divorced, a certificate issued by the district within 3 months must be provided. This certificate should confirm that the individual has not remarried after the divorce. The certificate must be certified by the Division of Nationality and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
  7. If previously married, the original divorce certificate or divorced family status certificate should be brought, along with one copy (in the case of a Thai woman).
  8. One-inch color photograph.
For Chinese Nationals:
  1. Original passport along with one copy of the photo page with name or a driver’s license with front and back copies.
  2. One-inch color photograph.
  3. Single certificate.
  • All documents must be issued within 3 months from the date of submission.

Birth Certificate

Birth notification, even if parents are not married, is an important process, and it is the right and duty of mothers to notify the birth of their children. The required documents for Thai nationality parents are as follows:

  1. Documents of Thai nationality for both father and mother:

  3. Mother’s affidavit (available at the Consulate-General or downloadable from the request form).
  4. Request for birth registration (available at the Royal Thai Consulate-General or downloadable from the application form).
  5. Original passport with one set of copies.
  6. Original identification card, yellow card with photo, or a certificate of a person with a photo or a stub requesting an ID card. This should be accompanied by a seal of approval from the district or a document certifying a person issued by the Department of Provincial Administration, along with one copy of the front and back.
  7. Original Thai house registration or a version with a stamp of approval from the district, or the original certified civil registration form, along with one copy.
  8. One color photograph, taken together with three persons (father, mother, and child) or a photograph of two persons (mother and child) in the absence of the father. There is no size limit, but it is recommended to (8) Thai marriage certificate, along with one copy if parents are married.
  9. Child certificate, in case the father certifies the child, along with one copy.
  10. Child’s identity document: The original birth certificate issued by the hospital, along with one copy, must be presented to the Notary Public in the document certifying area.
  11. Documents for parents who are Chinese or of other nationalities: Passport or driving license, along with one copy.
Remarks:
  • In the case of parents’ registered marriage: (1) The child has the right to use the father’s surname. If the parents want the child to use the mother’s surname, both parents must make a written confirmation statement. (2) The Consulate-General cannot proceed if the parents wish for the child to use another person’s surname that is not the surname of the parents.
  • In the case of parents not being married: (1) The child is the legitimate child of the mother and has the right to use the mother’s surname. (2) If the child wishes to use the father’s surname, the fathers and mothers must make a written statement for the illegitimate child to use the father’s surname.
